Best Sports Sedan under $10k

I've owned a 93 Regal, 92 Sunbird, 02 Sable.
I've driven a modified Lancer.

The Aurora all around is my fav.

I know the list isn't that long, but they really do handle well. They're not all top heavy at all, and they're two tons.

I don't want to go back and forth arguing, couldn't you just take one out on a test drive and see for yourself?
Well none of those are exactly "sports sedans".... I'll add it to my list... I'll likely spend some time test driving cars when it comes time to purchase something

Learn to drive.
.... I am able to drive in the snow with RWD just fine... but if I'm going to commute an hour on back roads (into the boston area) I'd like something more sure footed than a RWD sports car...

plus the vette's in the 8-10k range are ehhh.....

The WRX and 1g talon/eclipse is a thought... but I'd prefer a sedan... a biggish one... my friends 2.5rs was WAY too small to comfortably commute in....
I was looking at these two DSMs

Ya, 1g's and 2g's are pretty damn small. And for a 4 door your right, wrx's are a tight fit.

I had a '03 Maxima a couple years ago. Luxurious, yet sporty at the same time. Handled great in every season. The Blizzaks helped a lot in the winter too. Highly recommend them! I paid 15k for mine but you can find them now for around what your looking to spend. Good luck with the search!

the 03-04 maxima is a definite thought... I was just looking them up on CL a min ago... I think they could be had for 10k at auction....

As long as it had the VQ35 I'd be up for any nissan/infiniti sedan....

The i35's can be had cheaper... I flogged many a i35's (worked at infiniti dealership)... I could handle the no manual.... I like the interiors a little better on them too... but then the BMW would likely handle better...

just do a good search in the paper or around town. I got my 2001 for 11k from an old lady who kept it in the garage since day one and only took it out on sundays for grocery's and church. pretty much mint and one owner along with all dealership oil changes and inspections. bottom line is most bmw's are well kept cars and are low maintenance with superb safety features like standard side airbags in all cars

How much handling do you need in Salem OR anyway? The downside to the Aurora is the Northstar engine. They like to use oil, burn premium and when it's time for engine repairs, they will be pricey. Better to go with a 3.8 V-6 FWD GM full-sized model and have an easier engine to deal with for the long run, use regular, get decent handling in snow with the FWD, be comfortable, nail out 28 MPG HWY at a minimum and on top of that, if your buddy goes to the dealer-only auction in PDX, he should be able to nail you out a LeSabre for under $7K that isn't a high-miler.

If you insist on the "sports" part getting satisfied, you will pay for it and not get as good a deal as going with a standard full-sized sedan. However if it's sporty sedans you want, check out the Cadillac STS's. You will be back to dealing with the Northstar and burning premium though.

Going foreign means paying a premium for the hot brands. It means paying more for parts and repairs. It means having a smaller, lighter car, which isn't a good thing if someone piles into you. Ever see all those big pickups and SUV's out there? We had a wreck south of Bandon last year in which a Honda got cut in half. Methinks I'll stick to Detroit iron where possible.

not true. some of the new trucks have flimsy metal outer shells. plus some trucks have a higher percent chance of rolling over in a crash than a car.

I live in Southern new hampshire now... If I was commuting from salem to portland a GM vehicle would be fine for the freeway commute... go mapquest milford NH to boston MA... ignore the route and look at the web of backroads that will likely become my commute.... a sports sedan is a must
