best spl sub

ok i just picked up my memphis studio 500/1 for 160$ from a buddy who works at a shop near by. i want to run one 15 and the have as much spl as possible. huge vented boxes are fine too cuz its goin in the hatch of my 2 seater 300zx. any help is appreciated thanx

Don't do blueprints w/ that Memphis amp.. they only run @ 4 ohms. not a good match for that amp.

Try and get something that runs @ 2 ohms, either a 2 ohm SVC, or a dual 4 ohm DVC. A kicker L5 should put out a lot of bass with 500 watts going to it. I know someone who has the older L7's (basically the same thing) in a 15 inch with only 400 watts going to it, and OMG does that thing pound for only being 1 sub in a sealed box, i can't imagine an L5 (which is more efficient) 15" in a ported box. I think u'll be more than happy.

I'm sure that there are better subs for the money, but i don't know any offhand.

yeah i'd say elemental designs i've heard there new subs are great subs. or a kicker l5 like diamond audio said would be awesome too. now this is just a question, why you want that much weight in a 300zx??

the friend that i have w/ the L7 15 has 2 of them in the back of a Mitubishi 3000GT. In a car w/ that much performance you won't notice and extra 1-2 hundred pounds as much as you will in a Honda Civic.

Plus puttin a system in a car w/ that little airspace is just plain insane, his system is gonna be the loudest i've ever heard as soon as he gets his 2 JBL 1200.1 amps, and his car will still blow the hell out of my Jeep, and my sister's Honda Civic in any kind of race. (she has a 2k1 civic)

yeah there's about a 600 pound or more dif. between a 300zx and a 3000gt, why do you think they are all slow except the VR-4 unless you do heave mods.

Yea, his isn't the VR-4, because insurance is too much on a turbocharged car. I don't think that money was an obstacle, but the insurance is insane for a 17 year old kid.

and which car weighs 600 lbs more, the GT? it must be, cuz that car is a beast.

yeah the GT weighs at least 600lbs more if not more than that. i'd still take my car i'm saving for now over a VR-4 though even though they are great car's just i want the light sporty look of a WRX 2.5RS

Yea, everyone who is into cars just about wants a WRX.

but i'm thinkin my next car is gonna be the 99 or 00 Celica GT-S, the one without the new fuel cutoff. yeah but the only problem is how much money any upgrade's cost to those sucker's. hardly anyone knows how much more that stuff is than almost any import. a friend of mine has a 00' celica riced out but looks very nice, only prob is they break easily so he's selling his to get a 300zx

Yea, they are fairly hard to tune.

but turbonetics makes a turbo charger kit for it, and it is good for like 280 horse to the ground. (in the Matrix {sport compact car}).

I just like how they look. they are unique, and there are none of them around here. I'm thinkin black with some kind of aluminum racin wheels, and a nice tasteful body kit.

a 300 ZX would be nice, but i don't really like the rear ends of them. the taillights don't really do it for me, but otherwise they are one of the best lookin cars around.

I believe the reason a vr4 weighs more is b/c of the awd equipment

how do you figure that?? it's b/c ith as a huge body style do it that's the biggest reason for the weight. the 2.5RS impreza is awd and it weighs less than a VR-4. yeah it is a 4 cylinder not a 6 both other than that they are comparable.
