title says it all..includes HU(ipod ready), amp, subs, enclosure, and speakers. im kinda new and i dont noe what to get. i was looking at the pioneer 3004 for the sub cuz the price is cheap but i dont wanna make a custom enclosure for it because i heard its picky with enclosures for it to sound good. so please post some good setups for my budget. thanks.

EDIT: oh yea, i got a black 96 maxima.

K a few questions:

1. What are the sizes of speakers in your door?

2. Does your car have a stock tweeter location?

3. What type of music do you listen to?

4. Do you have any brand preferences, specifics?

5. Can the system be a frankenstein of audio products?

6. Do you want sound deadening or not (highly recommended) ?

7. Are you willing to buy from E-bay or online sources?

When these are answered, the picture will be much easier. Plenty of things can be bought to make a system under this price range, if you know how to look and are smart about it.

1. it says 6.5" on the site

2. the stock system is a bose if that helps any. if not im not really sure

3. i usually lissten to rap/hiphop/rnb

4. brand doesnt really matter

5. what you mean frankenstein

6. whats sound deadening

7. my friend noes someone that owns his own shop so i can ask him to order things for me.

Frankenstein of audio products - n - a combination of different brands used to produce a better quality of reproduction as opposed to all equipment from the same manufacturer who might not produce the best of each category

The pics I found for Maxima's of that year with Bose systems look like they have tweeters. Is there a small little speaker just in front of your door handle? (thats where it is in the picture I am looking at)

I would suggest looking at Alpine for a Head unit, especially if you want to use it with an ipod, Alpine has recieved many accolades for its ipod interface. Also for subs many will probably recommend Fi (http://www.ficaraudio.com) check out the SSD, might work well for you. I would also recommend getting some plans from members here and building your own box or someone locally with some carpentry skills building it for you.

Spend some time with the search feature on this site, as well as parusing the various online stores like crutchfield or onlinecarstero.com and check out the prices and specs on head units, speakers, amps ect, the prices at least will give you a ball park estimate on how much they will cost, and don't forget to add in some for Electrical, enclosure, and maybe even some deadening.

umm if you can send me a link of the maxima i can see. yea, i was planning on an alpine HU but i dont noe which one to get. and sure, it can be a frankenstein

Hmm 1250$.

Well, if it is Bose, I believe that means that you might have to rewire everything in the end. Not sure on that though.

Sound deadening is a type of material that reduces or eliminates resonation in long spans of sheet metal in your car. it is also used in coordination with other materials in order to seal your door as best as possible, increasing your midbass performance generally greatly.

As far as for your 6.5", I'd look into the Alpine Type-R. They have very good midbass punch, and a not-so-bright tweeter. This might be good for your listening style.

If you are planning on getting the entire system through your friend, ask your friend what he can order for you brand wise. That way we know what we can suggest from.

Oh ya, and spot on //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

This is the picture I was looking at, its from a 98 GLE model but I would think it would be similar. The little ccircle in front of the door handle I am assuming is the tweeter, the car was listed with the bose system.

A decent entry level deck could be this Alpine CDE-9852 just need to get the iPod cable to go with it. Much of this is based on personal preference, if you have a audio shop nearby I would suggest going there and listening to as many speakers in your size range as you can, 6.75" is kind of limited on selection so maybe check out some 6.5" as well they may fit with or without minor tweaking. Hifonics seems to be a respectable value brand amp producer (see many on this site using them and many recommending them, and they are reaonable priced) For name brand stuff I will just through out a few manufacturers who seem to have good reps, for speakers maybe look for Pioneer, Alpine, MB Quart, and Infinity (I have been pleased with my Infinity products). I don't know the prices but many on this forum suggest Rainbow. For subs many will suggest Fi subs, Alpine type-r //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hide.gif.2d479cfd917eedfe201353b91522ceab.gif , Kicker CVR, and many more. Just trying to throw out some brands for you to take a look into. Big thing is to go to a shop and actually get a listen to what you are looking for.

Some others will most likely chime in too, just trying to get you started. I find research is one of the best things you can do for making a good system.

yea, ive been researching about em but cant quite understand it. uhh nah my maxima doesnt have the speeker there. and if i get the type-r like suggested, i would also have to get other spearkers too right? or are the 2x type-r enough? and for the amp, since the type-r's together put out about 1000W-RMS, would i get an amp that is about +/- 100 W?? and how many channels on the amp? and whats the ohm do?

I'm not exactly sure what you said, but I'll try to decipher //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

For the Type-R's: I suggested the Type-R componenets for your front doors. Since it seems like you do not have stock tweeter locations, you can go with the Type-R coaxials, or, if you want to, I'm sure it is not hard to drill the hole, and buy the stock hardware for mounting the tweeters, or even use the stuff that came with it.

If you are referring to the Type-R subs, yes, you should get an amp that will fit the RMS rating of your subs.

What did you mean by '2x Type-Rs'?

my bad, i thought you were talking about type-r subs. yea, i noe that i should get a amp that matches the RMS of my subs, but i read somewhere that it shouldnt be exactly the same, it said it should be +/- 100 the RMS of the subs but i dont remember which. and wouldnt i need subs for the speakers also? would you suggest, speakers for the doors and the rear, making that a total of 4?

ok, so right now, going on information i received on this thread:

HU: Alpine CDE-9852

Speakers: the Alpine Type-R coaxials

Subs: 2x 12" Alpine Type-R

Amps: ??

and what kind of enclosure would yall recommend for the 12" Alpine type-r subs?

H/U:Alpine CDE-9852 $161.00

front speakers: Rainbow Sound Line SLC $220

rear speakers: stock

Sub: SSD12 $ 189.00

Sub Amp: Hifonics Brutus BXi1206D $259.00

Comp Amp: Hifonics Zeus ZXi4006 $189.00

Total: $1021
