What would be the best set up for my TC-9. Just got it the other day and hooked it up sealed to 600 watts. I wasn’t to impressed with the way it sounded.

This sub is going in my boat so im looking for max SPL.. not sure if I can fit a ported box but can fit a 2 cube sealed..

Is this a good sub or do I need to look at something else for what im trying to do?

it just didint have the punch i thought it would in a sealed box like i had it and it made me wonder how much of a differents a few more hundred watts would make

Unless you can get something that pushes around 900+rms try to go ported. It will sound much louder being ported. You can try to push more than rated but I don't know how much it can handle daily. Try to get about 2.3^3 and you should be good.

Is this one of the TC-9 woofers for sale in the classified section? If so, those are tremendous bottom-end dwellers... not what would generally be described as a "punchy" woofer by any means. What it does do is drop low, and it does that extremely well. Port them and it will get obscenely low but if you want "punchy" you may be looking for something it won't give you.

Again in reference to the ones sold in the For Sale section by Ryan -- I have tested them up to 4,000 watts on a burp. They hold power just fine like you would expect from a 3" coil driver. I would say running a properly adjusted 1200 - 1500 watt amp would present to problems to these drivers.

But, again, these are bottom dwellers. With 4,000 watts the SPL score wasn't that great since they are fairly flat with a low F3 -- not so much a "punchy" woofer. If you want sick LOW end they work very very well for that.

Much agreed Jacob... They have a low fs because of a high mms Which interprets to a sick low end.. they arn't the most punchy but they play pretty darn flat and will eat lows... you should DEFFINELTY port that sub @ 30hz and get ready!

2ucft ported is plenty of room!
