I need to get more space in my trunk and my 2 current Eclipse 87 series 12" subs keep disintegrating (surrounds, spider) and getting Eclipse to replace them has been a headache to say the least.
I'm looking for a very good single 12" driver to take place. I know output will be reduced as I've been driving around with my only functioning eclipse driver. I'm fine with that. I have a directed 400W @ 2ohm amp. It's only stable to 2 ohms so I'd like a DVC 4ohm driver. Budget is $250 and requirements are:
• Sound quality! Fast transients, clean distortion free sound. This is important to me.
• works in a small sealed enclosure. Since I'm replacing my current setup to gain trunk space, I want something that will work in a 1.5 cuft box or so.
• designed for 400-600 watts. This is what I'm working with, so I don't want something that takes 2000 watts just to vibrate the cone. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
• $250 or less.
Some brands and models I've been looking at are Resonant Engineering SE12, DigitalDesigns 2500, Alpine type R, IDmax (a bit of a stretch) and diamond D6's.
