Best Quality Amps Ever?

Nobody has mentioned Crossfire. Everything that they make is quality.
they also led the charge for asian made amplifiers

AM series and pro mos series as well as the pre AM series is what gartered all the wins and press for PPI (as well as JL and Mb Quart). I used to sell the PPI art series and at the time i actually liked the Xtant and Kicker stuff better.

US made soundstream amps i do/did like however they did have issues with the first runs of the 10.0 (had bad motorola chips). Now since the VGA series is no longer out there I do not know if they have an American made amp.

Where are the Human Reign amps and the HR Crypt amps made? Why no love for the Art series? They were an improvement on the AM series...
We had issues with them over heating more so than older amps..also what would your improvement be? a shorter case?It was also a better sales point selling amplifiers that you could add cards for EQ and xovers without spending $150 ++ for the outboard units. Im not saying they were bad just saying PPI was the shizzit well before the art series:laugh:

Also I seen someone say something about planet audio and BOSS...the same guy that owned Boss started planet audio..they were as far as i ever knew linked that way but were very different in the quality of product.

I could see the issues with heating since the Art series lacked surface area on the heatsink, relying solely on mass. My understanding was that the power supply was a better design on the Art compared to the AM which was in turn better than the Mosfet series. The Art were definitely easier to install since you didn't have to mess with terminals or splicing. Not that that's that big a deal unless you swapped components a lot.

Otherwise, I hear ya. PPI made their name with the AM and ProMOS amps.

Anything hand built in America.

First anything ZED "Steve Mantz" or John Henry have had their hands in, there are some exotics out there also but they come with a price.

Big thing back then around me was mounting amplifiers under a seat or in places where they were not seen nor showcased. I was not an installer then and if i voiced my opinion i heard about it VERY often. Many shops back then believed a 4 channel amp and a sub amp with after market 2 or 3 way speakers with a prefab box and sub was the ticket...i sold q forms and components..got yelled about it too:laugh: I guess it was too hard running new wire to kicks??

As far as quality goes I'd put those actually made in the West ahead of those made in the Far East, but that quality comes at a price premium that is totally non commensurate with the difference in actual quality. Machines in the US and Europe don't solder better than the same machines used in Korea and China. The difference in quality typically comes from better components but the difference in price comes from the difference in the wages of the workers monitoring the machines. How where you live somehow makes the exact same work worth more is totally contrary to basic economics (which is why most amp brands have moved to Korea).
