Best Places To Buy Car Audio Online?

first things first, if your looking to buy at a local dealer, you should buy from an authorized dealer of the manufacturer your looking to buy and they should never go over the retail price. Retail shops will say a lot of bad things about online stores and ebay just because they want your business and you can't get anything under a true manufacturer warranty online. Online stores are not authorized dealers and are in no way affiliated with the manufacturer, and most offer you a 90 day warranty which they state its brand new but in fact its refurbished. Don't believe me then ask yourself this, if its brand new then why does it come with the same warranty that refurbished items have? There are a few exceptions to online stores like crutchfield, car domain, and circuit city. In order to be an authorized dealer you must have a "brick and mortar" retail store. I am an ebay dealer for car audio and can get pretty much anything thats made out there. Most of my items I can get for people come with a warranty through my distributors which in most cases are the same as the manufacturer warranty. And let me tell you, ebay prices are very close to wholesale prices or if anything the same. Ebay sellers make profit through the shipping prices by overcharging or by buying a lot of an item to get a better wholesale price. My opinion is you got a choice. Spend more money to get an item thats under warranty or get a great deal on something that might not even have a warranty. Ebay- you buy the item, retail store- you buy the item and warranty.

fireball75427,

I think you missed my point totally.

You constantly have shop owners/installers telling you to buy authorized. But that is not a viable solution for everyone, so my question to these same people was what should I do in my situation. Example I've been thinking about picking up a Cerwin Vega sub(s). CV has one dealer in my area, who wants to charge me $245 ea for a v-max 12" and $320 ea for a v-max 15". I have to admit I truly do not know what retail is on the two subs, but I know it is not double on-line prices. So should i pay double to the dealer, because he has overhead or should I go the on-line/ebay route. That is the question I put to shop owners/installers. Just to throw it out there, Tried to see if there was any wiggle room on price (did not say anything about the internet or try to get a hook up) and was told bluntly that was the stated price.

dealers sell everything for around the msrp price unless you get some good deals like a local dealer by me who have buy 1 get 1 deals on subs around xmas time. if you dont plan on maxing out the rms rating on the subs and takin it easy on the subs then just get it on ebay. which subs are you looking to get? cerwin vega is one of the brand names i deal with so i could possibly get you a good price.
