Best place to ground the amp in the trunk?

I do not know if this would be applicable for everyone but in my personal experience the bracket for the spare tire under the trunk floor (if your vehicle is set up is such a manner) makes a really excellent grounding location.

My main ground (that feeds my ground distro block) is spot-welded to that bracket and I've had no ground problems whatsoever.

But, as jmanpc stated, anywhere that's a solid piece of metal that isn't isolated from the chassis will suffice - just make certain that if it is a painted surface you clear off that paint and you should be good to go.

The tail lights on my car have a little ground bolt. Could I just piggy-back onto that? Seems like the quick and easy way to do it.

As long as the metal can be traced to the chassis and you remove all the paint it will be fine...
