Quick amp questions..........

Was readin' another thread and came across the information that multiplying the fuse rating(s) by voltage will give you the wattage of the amp.....

Is this true?......at 4 Ohm?......2 Ohm?.......1 Ohm?.....

If 2 fuses are present is it one per channel or are the ratings added together and then multiplied by the applied voltage?

Why I'm asking is that my 150.2 amp has 2 30amp fuses and is getting about 13.6volts.....so is it really closer to 600 watts?

How exactly is it figured up?

It's an old wives tale.

For all intents and purposes, you can not tell the wattage of an amplifier by it's fuse rating.

This excludes the extreme examples of somthing like a 20A fuse in a 2kw amplifier...obviously this is going to be a problem //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

But to try to use the fuses to determine the output of an amplifier in most reasonable situations is not, in any way, shape or form, an accurate method.

just hook up a dmm to the amp then take that voltage number times then divide it by the impedence and you'll get how much power your amp is puttin out aka rms or average power
Inaccurate aswell.

For one, you would need to be sure to measure both the voltage and impedance as the tone is being played, as the impedance while playing will not be the same as the "nominal" impedance the sub is wired to.

But beyond that; it does not take into consideration distortion.
