im gonna have to agree. If i put a real cd or burned CD (w/ high qual bitrate) in, i think i can tell it's better than 1/3 of the real cd

$20 or $20,000 it is still stealing.
man i hate to say it, but that is the most wuss comment that ive ever read on this forum. the music industry has been robbing consumers for years. dude, why are you being righteous overmuch. you must be rich, well-off, stupid or crazy. i think Kazaa is awesome.

man im sorry if i came down hard on you. if you feel that it is dishonest to download music, dont do it.

Do you buy all of your sounds from authorized dealers only? may not seem relevant to you, but im curious.

hehe, alright I gotta post somethin here, this thread is quite amusizing XD but I'm not against pirating at all, I both buy my share of cd's (probly bout 1 or 2 cd's a week ) and I also dl songs off the net if i hear something new, to see if it's good or not (I have bout 7-8 gigs of mp3's on my comp.)... there's really nothing wrong with it as long as you aren't 1 of those people who have 1000's of cd's that you just burn instead of helping out the music industry... I live out in the boonies of alaska, so like the only store we have here to buy music from is fred meyers, (a little over priced for music, but it's not $20 a cd... so i'm happy XD) but ya... this whole battle over piracy is pretty stupid in my opinion... most of the time the ppl pirating doesn't have the money to just go out and spend on misc. cd's to find out they only like 1 song on the 16 tracks instead they download the music and a friend or 2 hears it thinks it's cool and gets the cd maybe it was good and the pirater buys it as well or just likes a few songs so he just burns the cd... it's really not that big of a deal

That's a pretty lame arguement. "Judge, my client is poor and doesn't have enough money so he was forced into stealing music to make ends meet. It wasn't his fault." How lame is that? Music CD's are luxury items, they are not produced to fulfill anyone's basic needs. If you can't afford them, you don't need them. You're right- it's not that big of a deal, but your arguement was lame... and it will be a big deal the day it starts to drive prices up. You think $20/CD is high now!

**disclaimer** To reiterate my point for those morons who will think I'm against piracy... I am for it, I'm just smart enough to know it is stealing and there are no excuses for it. No matter what you do you will not be able to justify it.

i wasn't really argueing it, i mean i CAN see both sides of the story, i was just stating that it's not that big of a deal... but i think there's plenty of people out there to buy cd's that the "piraters" won't really have much of an effect on the industry... i haven't seen a huge price change in a LOOONG time.... maybe from $14 to $16 was the last 1 i saw, and that had to have been atleast 4 years ago... but the industry needs to fight it atleast a little since if they didn't they would surely just crash cause there'd be ALOT more people dling music than buying it... just as long as they don't over-do it like with the Lars incident I noticed that just caused a freakin ton of people to dl metallica's music even if they didn't like them, they just did it out of retaliation or somehing...

if you like the artist, go out and support them.
actually I'm pretty sure cd quality is 160Kbps and mp3's can get up to 320Kbps, I'm not quite sure if cd players can actually produce the 320 sound quality, I'm pretty sure 320 is just digital .. I've noticed the only difference is usually 320 creates alot more bass. of course if your dling from kazaa or something you will more than likely find 128kbps, which is indeed crap.

Let's not start another bitrate discussion...

Im sure that enough congressmen and law professionals have experienced the

convienience of p2p networks via directly or via their kids that they arent too hot about

carrying the foul flag with the music industry.

Thats my take..

What I italiced is very true...you will here more bass, more quality, and you will not have to turn it up so loud that it distorts to the point that you wanna hear it. It is also based on how good the laser of the decoder is playing it. If its dirty or not a very good decoder, it won't sound good at any bitrate...
