Best Midrange on PE.com that can take 125 rms??

If youre going for world class, studio grade sound quality, a pro audio speaker isnt what you want. But in that case, I dont think any of the other $35 will work too well either.

He never said thats what hes looking for. Just something that will be clean and loud. Go for the Eminence, get a decent tweeter, and put a grill over the speaker.

These ones work great, and if you prefer another color, can be spray painted to whatever color/texture you want and still look really good.

You think the volume output is different between the 2?? Or just clarity??

Id love to get something freakin 4 ohm so I didnt have to rewire

Id go for the 8 ohm. Would be much louder with the amp running at 2 ohm mono compared to 4 ohm stereo.

Would be a piece of cake to wire that way. Just take the wire going to the door and connect it + to + and - to -, from one speaker to the other. Then just move one wire on the amp. Really nothing to do to change it.

I think the Eminence is a little louder, but never really heard anything other than rap on the Seleniums. The Seleniums will work great.

That is a bad idea to have the midrange running of a mono signal. Unless your running a mono amp to each speaker.A high efficient 8 ohm speaker will be just as loud as a 4 ohm speaker with half the power. The key is to get a HIGHLY EFFICIENT 8 ohm driver. as a side effect your amp will run COOLER and LAST LONGER.

It's not a coincidence at all because they are going not just for SQ, but lots of output as well. If he's not really pushing 125W to just one mid, then Hi-Fi drivers will give a better sound every time. It's just what they're made to do.
This is going to be very depenent on the speaker. Lots of winning SQ cars in the nineties were using hi effeciency pro audio mids. I'd put an upper level B&C speaker up against any car audio driver. It'd be a close match with most upper level car audio speakers until about 105db's, in which case the B&C would smoke them. Car's are a noisy environment compared to a home. Alot of times a "good sounding" 86db/1w/1m speaker simply won't get loud enough to overcome road noise easily enough to sound good at even modest listening levels when we take road noise into account. In the driveway they sound great, on the highway not so much. Personally I've checked with a mic, I normally listen to music at 105db's if I'm by myself and not rocking out going about 35 and I drive a caddy with some CLD in it. I'd rather get that type of output with 10 watts than 60.
