Best computer speaker systems?

The Klipsch ProMedia speakers are great, but be informed that the BASH amplifier WILL GO OUT. Haha, it is such a common problem it is ridiculous. I think there's even been a few people posting on here about the BASH amplifier going out on them a few times. (Yes, this thread has been done before, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif)
Klipsch Customer Service is pretty decent, and they know about the problem so it's easy to get them to send you a replacement, but, it's a hassle.
moar info plz....I have had the 2.1 for 5 years now with no issues:confused:

Heh, consider yourself lucky. I had a set of the ProMedia 2.1's (still have them, on my brother's PC now though) and it's on it's third BASH amplifier. (2 replacements have been sent to me so far)

I've talked with a few other people, and through some googling, found this is quite a common problem.

Maybe I use them too much, I don't know? I've only been able to get ~ a year out of each amp, 6 months out of the original one. The one I have now though has been going strong for 8 months, hopefully it stays that way as next time it goes out I'm trashing it, or getting a replacement and selling these things.

Heh I'm not bashing the company (no pun intended //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif), they do sound great. I'm just saying not everyone has the luck you seem to be having //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

It seems the people that have had them for a long time (4+ years and such) haven't had problems, but people who have had them for 1-3 years they have the problems. Maybe they began using cheaper (crappier) components in the amps around that time to keep costs down when inflation began to hit, I'm not sure.

I've been pondering that Z2300 2.1 system to replace my 5.1 logitech (sub lacks bad).
not a bad setup for the price, but i heard rumors that the speakers really lack compared to the sub?
I don't think it's that the speakers lack compared to the sub, it's just the sub has very exaggerated output. With a decent sound card, some EQing, and lowering the sub knob on the unit from 100% to like 50%, they blend relatively well actually. Most people just keep the sub on 100% on the remote, and the speakers can not keep up, at all, haha. It's a decent set though, and especially now that it's only $100 or so. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

they sell those in my bookstore, they dont really sound too great for me. I dont know maybe im just biased twards logitech since their too **** cheap.
That could be because they are in a large room with a POS source. Buy them, take them home, plug them in, and try them with your setup. Then you will know if you like them or not.

True, I know at the Best Buy I work at, when we had all our PC speakers on display and connected, they sounded like crap. Especially the Z-2300's since I have heard them in my room and then heard them in the store, it's ridiculous. You would think they were completely different subs. It's like comparing Xplods to an XXX. Haha. But these were exactly the same. Only difference was the fact that they were in a huge building at BB, and in my small 12x12 or so room at home.

I have the Companion 3's and I love the hell out of them. Fills my bedroom with sound //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
