Best compact 5 channel amp under $230?

do you think it stopped gaining volume after a certain knob point due to the gain being too high?...
That was part of the problem. I had to turn the gains up way too much to get good volume. Even with the gains turned down you could probably fry an egg on it. I didn't have to crank the gains up that high on the Prime. The PPi amp was no good.

you probably need a bigger amp than the regular 5 channel, can you go with 4 channel and a sub amp?

what impedence was your sub? If you were running it at 1ohm then that would do it. It isn't rated for that. If not, then I am surprised. This is the first negative thing I have heard about the 900.5

I'm telling you the amp was a lemon. It had the door speakers sounding funny. The sub is d4 wired at 2ohms. Guess what, the Re srx12 was a lemon too. It stopped working 2 days ago and never got pushed or broke in. It still has that new smell. Both coils don't read anything on the meter. I guess Re has really gone down. I had to put an old Sony xplode 12 in its place that I had collecting dust until I get a better replacement sub. The Sony works great but I still want a better sub. The PPi was not doing rated. I have a second battery and a 200amp alternator.

probably you got a defect if the door speakers sounded funny and it got hot even with the gains down. my 4 channel ppi only needs 30% gains and its ear bleeding loud already.
Your head is hard. Why can't ppi have one bad amp? My Jbl components have zero problems. I should have not said they sound funny, they just sound way better with the prime amp. If my door speakers are defective they'd have the prime amp burning up according to your logic.

dude i meant you had a defect on that ppi amp.... chill out bro

Hmm, amp gets hot and doesn't sound good, then you blow a subwoofer...anyone else seeing a pattern?
There is no pattern. I'm more skilled than some certified installers. I just ended up with 2 bad products. The Re is not blown. The coil looks and smells brand new. I've seen this problem before. Sometimes a sub has bad coils from the start or something is not connected internally. Will you be satisfied if I send the sub to Re for repair and they tell you that the sub is defective? I own 10 amps and 9 subs and they all work. Do you see that pattern? The issue has already been resolved but you feel the need to troll.

Not trollin boss, just stating the facts. I'm a logical guy. One bad apple is possible but two back to back is highly unlikely. The odds of it being user error are far greater.

You think you are smarter than everyone else. There is no user error and I can prove it with the Re sub, but you will still probably want to argue back and forth like a woman. I did direct swaps with some of my other amps and all of them outdid the ppi. My current install should quit on me any day now according to what you call logic. It has been stated many times on this forum that Re's quality is not what used to be, but I guess you missed that? I had 2 of the real Se 12s on 2000 rms. They never messed up and I pushed them to the limit. That was almost ten years ago and I've never left car audio. If I messed up the install I would admit it. I have jack to gain by trying to impress you. When I get word back from Re you'll be the first to know.

Smarter than everyone? Nope...smarter than most? Definitely. But then again the average intelligence level in this country is kind of sad.

guys im looking to get another 5 channel amp, ive ran RF, belles, and a kicker in the past. All of which were BIG amps. Looking for something smaller now because I dont have the space. How is the PPI compared to the Prime Rf amp. My local dealer told me RF has really gone down in Quality and if its true its sad because I have ran over 20 different combinations of Rf amps in the past and ZERO problems.
