Best (Cheapest) Alts?

What's the best alternators, performance being the biggest issue, and then price?

EDIT : I found an Iraggi alt. for $175 shipped, and it is a 180A. Should I go for it?

depends on what your going to be running...i think the rule is to get the biggest you can...if you plan on going bigger...

Well, right now, I'm running 800WRMS, and I do plan on upgrading, just not any time soon. The largest, and cheapest (for the size), I have found is a 240A alt. and they're wanting $600 for it. My car comes with a stock 105A alt. I've just ordered my wire from Knu so I can complete my Big 3 (With only 4 gauge though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif ). I have 2/0 battery and engine grounds, but I didn't have enough to reach from the alternator to the battery, and I can't relocate the battery either.

me personally, id wait until i could do it right and get the biggest i could...but 180 isnt bad...i guess...and its not like you really need it right now anyways with only 800 watts...

I don't think I'll ever go any bigger than 1500WRMS in this car. I'm thinking the 180A is pretty reasonable. I'm not buying anything until I can get my Big 3 done, and better runs of power and ground. The only reason I am wanting to know is that I just installed my 1008a's paired with a Directed 1100D, and there for a while they were loud, and were moving a lot, and then they cut out for some reason, and playing again, just not as loud. I checked the voice coils, and they're still reading at 4 ohms each, so it's not the subs. The amp is working great though, 'cause I hooked up an old SVC 4 ohm Volcano 12" and it was great.

I was running 1500watts on a 110amp and it did great, never flickered on me...

I am going for the 240...it does 150A at idle

180a should be fine for 1500 or less...

I get a lot of dimming, and my idle speed goes down any time bass hits.

I don't think I would be able to afford something that expensive for a while. I'm editing a video I just took to show how bad my voltage drops are. I think the 180a should suffice in this car. When I start building my GA back up, I'll probably look into them, as I plan on running at least 3000WRMS with a wall of 8's. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif We'll see what happens.

u will DEF be set with a 180a alt with 1500w or less power

heck ive seen people running 2500+ get away with a 140a alt with proper electrical ie. batteries and big 3 in 1/0

a mean green rep told me its 120/200 idle/cruise...

but to the OP...you asked best, cheapest, alt. you wont get the best for cheap, and you wont pay nothing for the best. not saying the mean green is the best...but i am saying its a quality unit for a little less than most. almost $200 less than your quoted alt.
