who has gone to best buy to get anything installed and what do u think bout them?? i dont have some huge system to put it but i want ti to be done right but i dont have alot of money any suggestions and i was curious what amp kits are good for a jl 500 watt mono amp for 2 tens and cd player

The general consensus on this forum is that you can easily do what most Bestbuys do. If you do a search you can find the horror stories. In my case, they really dinged up my first car and crack half the plastic inside.

Also their amp kits are grossly overprice and you can buy directly an amp kit from knuconceptz for a fraction of the cost.

One of my friends had a 1900MP installed, and they did it right and it looks good. Took about 5-10mins. They set an EQ for him, and it sounds pretty good. They even left his stock one on the floor along with all the leftovers in the pioneer box. I think that was nice of em.

(keep in mind he's stubborn and wanted it all done that day, or else he said he would have let me install and buy online)

I think its more of a carelessness with your money/convenience thing with the best buy installs. cost him 65 bucks.

my girl had a pioneer installed by then before she moved down here. they clipped off the tabs on the harness becuase they couldnt figure out how to remove the pieces to get it properly fit. when she got in an accidnet the radio flew out.

id say do it yourself. its good for you anyways. x2 on wiring from knu.

If you decide to have them do it, just don't go to them for advice. They're pricks and wont give you any info on how to do anything. They'll say that they can't tell you because if you do it wrong you can sue them. I had a simple question on a system I was building and that was the answer I got from them. Went to circuit city and they told me everything I was wondering and answered all my questions without any BS. They knew I wasn't buying anything from them but they still took the time.

The circuit city out in ohio by me did a really nice install on an escalade, but prob cost an arm n a leg. FYI best buy cranks up gains on amps to overcome ther crappy products they sell so never buy or get an amp installed there, i can see a radio with there free installatio thing(btw is a complete lie you pay for harness and everything else). Only time i bought from three was some speaker wire that i had a gift card anyway.

From what I have heard, they are not allowed to scratch or remove any paint off the vehicle for the ground...You're better off going to a reliable shop, even if they do charge 15 bucks more for whatever reason. It's not worth payin the money and not getting the "proper" install.

yeah, the CC near us does some crazy *** work, when my mom was getting an XM radio thrown in, there was an infinity g35 getting a system put it and it looked unbelievable. of course, if i were to get something installed in my car im going to the car audio shop, not CC, even if it costs me 65 and hour vs. 35

A shop is just a building...the person on the inside is doing the actual job. Can't generalize all Best Buys because they hired some idiot that installed a his friend's amp once or twice.

CC in my eyes is slightly better than BB... At least they seem to have the correct equipment.

only problem I had was getting them to install a replacement HU that was initally installed by BB... HU was almost stolen, theives couldn't get the HU out, so they just dented the hell out of it went to BB for an exact HU model replacement, saw that CC had the same HU at a lower price... Went to CC to have them install the HU, and they wanted to charge me and additional $35 to install a CC wiring harness, even though the original wiring harness was still there, and since this was an exact model HU replaced, would not need to be replaced...

They kept telling me that with their wiring harness(which was a metra, same one that was installed by BB) they would "guarantee" the HU would work...

I just went home and popped the dented HU out and slid in the new one...

ive worked at CC and they offer ALLOT of recorces... vehicle info ect... so you really arnt going into the install blind.. i dont know what best buy offers??

and it depends on the installer not just the company.
