Best Buy Retards!!!!

I cant stand running an Ethanol blend. I lost 50miles out of a full tank. It would be one thing if it was significantly cheaper, but there is no reason not to just run pure gasoline.

economy and environment, and some cars are better on it than others... did you know that the modle T could run on E85? the problem is that the engines don't have a great ability to convert the energy to power the car... it has a minimum octane rateing of 105... now think if more cars started using E85, then there would be pressure to make cars more E85 efficient... and eventally insead of regualar unleaded, plus, and premium you could see e85, e95, and e100!! lol

The problem with using corn, is that all of the farmers are growing corn now because of the price they sell it for now. That means all other crops will be lacking and guess what, all those prices go up as well. Lose-Lose situation. Hydrogen, Hybrid, and electric cars are gonna have to make it. Screw E85. Less mpg and power FTMFL.

I can't believe the original poster lives in my state... Missouri sucks but it just got worse.
Hopefully not in Kansas City? *crosses fingers*
Don't sweat, he's in columbia. BTW, columbia's university has some fine-*** girls going there. If you are around college-age, I recommend a visit to Mizzou.

here was what someone else has said....

Hybrids, aka "George Jetson Cars" are a cruel environmental joke. First, I drive an American-Built Mercury Mountaineer SUV, with an E-85 Flex-Fuel engine. I use E-85 and at the 100,000 mile period, I will have used 40% LESS FOSSIL FUEL than some wimpy 55 mpg Prius that is made in Japan and I won't have to worry about the DISPOSAL OF BATTERIES into the environment. As far as processing the E-85 fuel, producers are using methane gas, from steer and cow manure (no bull and no pun intended) for powering the generators. As far a the food supply goes, there is a process for saw-grass and other waste materials (such as cheese whey at Land o' Lakes) for ethanol production. I'd worry more about the price of cotton shirts than an impact on ther food supply. Corn production will increase since a number of farmers are switching from cotton to corn production this next year. Oh yes, E-85 is made in America, by Americans, so the money doesn't support nut-cases like Hugo Chavez or international terrorist organizations.
so they may be a bit less efficient but they are better for the environment, and if they where more widely accepted then the push to make better ethanol cars... the biggest reason e85 is so inefficient in cars on the road today is because the engines are designed to take gasoline with the option of e85 if you want... they aren't specifically designed for E85, the main benefit though is E85 is a route that is possible...new gas engines allready except it, so you don't have to go out of your way and buy a brand new car that only exepts hydrogen to start a change... if someone developed a car that could run on hydrogen/gas i guarentee in the next 10 years every car sold would be hydrogen... you have to start somewhere, E85 might not be the best but it is a first step toward better more efficient fuel, even if it is less efficient.... "sometimes it is neccesary to go a short distance the wrong direction in order to go a long distance in the right direction"
