Best Buy Question

I'm not blaming Best Buy for anything. I never said it was their fault. Yes I dropped it and it's my fault. I just can't afford an almost $200 loss. I never said it's right I just asked if it could be done. I know it's not the morally correct thing to do but I don't understand why you are pointing your fingers at me as if you are some perfect saint who has never done anything wrong.
I specifically said, I personally wouldn't be concerned about best buy (if I was in your situation). I just don't like when people go around ignorantly thinking that they aren't doing anything wrong really, or that its no big deal, when you truly don't know the long term effects of what you may or may not do.

Go ahead and do it, just don't go in there thinking, 'hey i need this $200 and they don't, so its perfectly fine'.

And you said you can't afford a $200 loss...then why did you buy another one?

When you return electronics like car cd players, cameras, ,or mp3 players to best buy unopened, do they need to have the same serial number as the one that you purchased? Or do they not even check that?
You want to pull what I call a scummy move. It could work as long as it is the exact same model of the one you broke. They may test it if you installed it though. Worth a shot. It takes a skilled douchebag to pull it off properly.

I bought another one so that I could return the one I dropped with a receipt. Because I don't have a receipt for the one I dropped.
It will work. Do it. That's a classic switcharoo. Just don't use none of the new stuff. I had a buddy once that swapped out a Japanese PS2 with an american one. they used to scan the serial number off of it back then, but what he did was peel the sticker off the new one and put it on the old one. Classic. He had to open the box from the bottom too so he wouldn't break the seal. Some poor bastard has a Japanese ps2 when he thought he got a brand new american ps2.

Best Buy will not be hurt. As much money as revenue as they generate taking a broken cd player isn't going to break their back

I'm a college student will bills to pay so a HU that costs close to $200 dollars will hurt me a lot more than best buy.

so thats the attitude?

just cuz a company makes millions doesnt mean its right to take broken stuff to them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Major companies like Best Buy don't care very much about their customers or their employees so no I'm not too concerned about them losing $200 when they make huge profits by selling overpriced equipment to people who don't know any better and could care less about anyone other than their business.

Above the UPC on the box should be a serial #; I know every H.U. that CCity carries has one. The customer service associates should be required to scan the serial # and yes you will get caught.
