i poop on you
hey guys i made a thread a couple weeks ago about a job interview i had with best buy concerning the mobile installer position. well its been two weeks now and they haven't called me back.. does that mean i'm not getting the job? when i got interviewed, they were having a job fair since theyre opening a Best buy up out somewhere... i thought i was going to get the job (judging by the way the main interviewer guy was talking to me). the head guy of the install bay even asked me some "pop quiz" questions and i nailed them on the spot. except when he asked, "how would u install a capacitator.." i straight up told him "I DON'T BELIEVE IN CAPS." he looked at me like i was an idiot then i went on explaining how i've read numerous articles that caps aren't the best way to overcome dimming lights and that caps will not give u better bass response. i explained the Big three to him then he said "well what if u don't have 0 gauge to work with?" i wanted to answer, "well then your cheap *** needs to get on weldingsupply.com and get some instead of spening 5 times as much on a cap.. dumbass!" but instead i said what he wanted to hear.. "well then i guess a cap would suffice" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif dude, i feel like socking him right now, not just because they haven't called me back, but because that guy was acting like he was a hot shot car audiophile when he obviously wasn't.. right before quizzing me he said "sorry if im a little hard, car audio is my passion".. and i said "well then we share the same passion" while i was thinking "i bet you're a typical BB installer who thinks he knows more than me... boy, do you have no idea how much knowledge i have over you try me you mother****er:) " ****.. i can't stop wonderring if that dumb sh!t had something to say to the people who decide whether to hire me or not.. i wouldnt be surprised if he said "he doesn't know car audio, if he did he would know that caps are a must in a system..." stupid BB workers...:furious:anyway enough with the rant. its been two weeks and they haven't called.. should i call them?

I guess sharing your "knowledge" with him was not the best thing to do in this case, was it? On the brighter side, it could be taking their HR department longer to process paperwork, background checks, etc... If they are opening a new store in your area, they probably have an influx of work due to the many positions that will need to be filled. It also never hurts to call THEM and follow up. Give them a call, find out what is going on, and go from there.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif It is never good to act like you know more than the person who would be your supervisor for a position like this, sometimes it is better just to **** it up to get what you want.

I bet they got all they need from you now. Now that they know what it is, theyll do the Big 3 for people at the low price of $110 plus materials. Call them back and ask them about it. If they deny you, you could mock them with vast knowledge...........then ask whats better, Pyle, Jensen, or Ascendant Audio.......Then mock some more:)

If you don't get the job, you could always go up there when they open the store, shit on the install bay floor, and tell them to hook a cap to it.

Just be prepared to run when the cops come.

Go in there and have an amp installed, then when you get home reinstall the amp all shitly and cause a fire in your car, then call best buy and tell them they fuxored your install and you have evidence to say so. Then you get that guy fired.

LOL...make sure you take pictures if you go that route....

I agree with mikey in the first place...if you go into an interview situation like that acting like you know more than the boss(even if you do) will usually yield poor results. Once youre hired you can discuss your ideas versus their ideas and probably get away with it, but on the first meet...its better to **** it up and be a yes man....

it not worth it having a car on fire. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

Exactly, it has been my experience that if you have improvements to offer, only disclose if asked. I have worked in an HR department, and //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif for others:

They look at a resume for reasons NOT to hire you, which is contrary to public belief. But the fact is, with so many resumes to go through, it is impossible to evaluate and interview ALL candidates, so they eliminate, rather than choose.

Include jsut enough information to show your qualified, but keep it short and to the point. The less they have to eliminate you with, the better the chance you will get an interview. **Flame Retardent**--> This may not be the case 100% of the time, but it is used a significant amount of time.

I know it is a little off-topic, but thought it might be helpfull for others.
