I have decided to put some tunes in my drag car for when I take it on the streets... I was wondering what you think would be good for a pair of Kicker L5 8"s an about 300~ rms each?

this is not my car but its the same exact thing.... I was going to do a simple slot port sub/port both rear facing. Can't seem to find many specs but I was thinking 36- 38 for the tuning...

I have a pair of 8500 10"s but I am trying to keep the weight down as much as possible and I don't need crazy bass or anything, it's a drag car.

I am going to run the L5 8"s and a Sony "1200 watt" amp because I have them laying aound collecting dust. I am probably just going to do... ho much air space do you think these need? like .75ft^3 per sub or...? lets just say port back, subs up, tuned to 37hz

Actually, you weren't too far off. Kicker recommends .66 cu ft (minimum) to 1 cu ft. If you're trying to save on space, .75 should be fine. Might be hard achieving a reasonable tuning though with that small of a net volume though. Let's see some designs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

no pretty pictures but my first design came out to:

10" x 26" x 20" (1/2" MDF)

1.71ft^3 net

19.69in^2 port area (9" x 2.5" x 16" for the port)

35.95hz

This could be wrong due to the fact the program I am using only does .75-3" wood thickness. So I took off .25" from the demensions when I designed the box, not sure if that works or not... LOL

will sound decent but will it be removable for racing?

I'd prob do a bit more design for aesthetics but all will be well

I've been pleasently pleased with the few L5's I've installed for customers g/l

yes, it will be easily removeable for when I take it to the track... It just sucked this summer when I took it on the streets I didn't have ANY music. So, I have a JVC deck, sony amp, some coaxials and the L5's laying around and decided why not...only going to add like 7lbs~ (not including subs/box/amp) and in a 2400lb~, 600HP+ car I am not going to worry too much about that!
