Ok here are my options. I can either go to the local car audio store, pay all mrsp and let them throw something in my truck. Or research, do it myself, save a ton of money and get better sound. What are the main aspects to look at when buying subs and what do they mean. I have been doing some serious research but various websites have different information. Im new to the game and just need some guidance on what to look for. Thank you.

Chevrolet 1999

silverado 1500 extended cab

FIrst off what is your goal, to get loud, or to get quality bass? WHat size sub were you looking to get, and what kind of install are you aiming for?....Their is a ton of information on this site and many people to help you save TONS of money, but we need to determine your goals/budget first.

Thnx for bein cool about it.

I have 2 grand. I need Subs and a amp. Im looking for two 12 inch. I want more of a HIT out of my subs, not so much the "thunder". No distortion what so ever.

Look into anything with a tight suspension...multiple spiders...MTs or BTLs for example .... my boss man's Death Penalties are also very stiff and Matrxx Dudes American Bass HDs

throw in a couple of batteries, acouple runs of 1/0 and say a Incriminator 40.1 (if you can find one on here) ... you should be good to go

AQ HDC3 hit super hard in the correct ported box $219 - 289

AQ 2200watt amp is around 389

HO alt is gonna run $2-400

150 on 1/0 guage

200 on extra bateries

Plenty of subs that will work you almost have enough cash to look at a RE XXX which is SQL beast low end monster.

A used Critcal mass UL 12 might run you $800 here and a kicker 2500 are about $450 all day in the classifieds the rest is on HO Alternator wire and batts, this woudl be a serious SQl system for 2k.

RE MT

Fi BTL new model

even 2 Fi Q 15 in sealed boxes would be pretty unreal on the AQ 2200, ported even more so.

Go with 2 12" sealed, since you want a tight "HIT" 2 grand is a very nice budget //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Look into IDMAX , jl w6v2, jl w7, fi Q, diamond D9, Those will fit the bill nicely

the only problem with getting them too big is space. I mean they have to fit under the back seat and the box has to have enough room for them to function to their potential. Im gonna measure it out tomorrow and get some dimensions. Cuz i know a w7 isnt gonna fit.

Might be worth waiting a month or so and getting the new Stereo Integrity Mag subwoofers. They should be available by then, and would fit under the rear seat of your truck.

(1) Sundown SAZ-1500D - $300ish

(2) 12" SI mag subs - $250 each

The sub will do perfect in a 1 cubic foot enclosure and 500 - 1000 watts. The sundown will be able to throw about 750 watts to each sub, and you have enough room under each seat for them. Factor in wiring, an deep cycle (or additional) battery, and you're still well under budget.

That would be an absolutely amazing substage.

Are you looking for headunits, component speakers, or a component amp?
