Best bang for your buck for my system?

I bought it used for $180 including the box and he stated it's wired at 3 ohm. He was running a ALPINE PDX.1000 with it. I never looked inside the box to confirm but it seems right because it's dual 1.4 ohm? I know,,,it's weird.

Won't that be hard on my electrical system? I don't want to change my alternator and all that route. I'm going to do a big 3 upgrade maybe tomorrow afternoon though. Right now,,,I'm running Kicker ZX750.1 right now and my lights don't even dim after slamming the music for like an hour.

I bought it used and he was using a Alpine PDX as well. Maybe there was a reason behind it. Thanks a lot.

1000-1200 RMS. That's where I get confused too. As the ohms drop,,,your amp has to work harder right? or more less controlled bass they say,,,but if the amp is 1 ohm stable,,,does it mean that it will run 1 ohm with CLEAN POWER? That's why I'm thinking of leaving it on 3 ohm so my amp and my electrical won't have to work so hard to give me that clean power. Am I wrong? I'm still a rookie.

youll be fine. run the sub at .7 and get a amp that does 1000rms at 1ohm and set grains correctly also do the big 3. there is a gain setting tutorial in the amplifier section.

I learned the other day how to set it with DMM so that's not a problem. holy crap! .7ohm? How much am I looking at? Do I need to fork out like $500 for .7 stable amp?

the aq1200 is a good amp. I know you can run the 2200@.5 with proper electrical not sure about the 1200 though. Sent you a pm too. Also no 500 isn't need for 1000watts at 1ohm...

yes that is a good amp and a good price to. just get a 1ohm stable amp its fine.

this is only correct with a specific amp

yes a t1000 will work harder to make 1000w at 1ohm than the 500w at 4 ohm

but will a kicker zx1000 draw less voltage because its a 2ohm amp?

no not at all

1000-1200w will almost always be around 100-130amps of draw doesnt matter the ohm load if the amp is design to run it

cheap amp look at the apsm-1300 or apsm-1500 cheap power decent reviews personally i would look for a t1000bdcp or a pdx-m12 pdx-1000.1 the rockfords constant power will throw about a 1000watt at it and the pdx is a regulated amp so it will give it 1000w

Ok,,,didn't know it still draws that much power regardless of ohms. I learn something new here everyday. Thanks a lot. I'm liking the pdx so far and RF.

Wiring it to .7 would be your best bet. With ohm rise, you'll still be sitting around 1ohm anyways. The AQ1200 would be a good amp.

I would never be able to justify the retail cost of an RF or Alpine. Solid amps if you get a good used deal on them though.
