Best amplifier for W3?

I apologize in advance for being somewhat uneducated when it comes to amplifier setups, so I'm turning to you guys to help me complete this.

I have ONE single 10" JL W3v3-4 that I have in a Powerwedge enclosure. I NEED to find an amplifier that will give me 450-500 watts RMS at 4 ohms to completely take advantage of my sub, correct?

Please list SPECIFIC amplifier's that would be ideal for my setup.

Thanks so much!

NO, you don't NEED nearly that much power. The sub might be able to take it but that doesn't meant that it nearly "needs" that amount of power to function well and sound good. The perfect world difference between 250W and 500W is 3dB. The real world difference is a bit less than that (the exact amount will depend on the sub and the amount of time you play it). Since it is a 4 ohm sub you can get away with bridging a smallish 2 channel to it.

What's your budget?

All w3 subs are dual voice coil, so its a dual 4 ohm, which is going to make things a little tougher. The jl 250/1 is probably a good choice, but if you ever plan on upgrading you should go with the 500/1

My budget is $250.

I'm looking at 500rms, my Eclipse XA1000 (325rmsx4) (480rmsx2) got ripped out a day after it went in, hardly made my sub go boom.

So, you guys think the 500/1's the best choice for ME?

I had that exact amp running to 12w3's till it got jacked and worked well for me.

True, but you were running 480rms at 2 ohms, right?

I'm not sure, maybe it was a shitty mix of me having a bad battery and the amp clipping its head off.

Don't get me wrong, i COULD turn it up and make it bump to my likings, but the clip indicator would be having a panic attack on me.

**** it, im going 500/1 and cranking the **** ouf of the W3. Good idea?

I vote for Blaupunkt VA2200 bridged does 600w. Don't be put off by the fact that its Blaupunkt, its actually been reviewed by alot of people as a great amp, not to mention the fact that its cheap.

Shows 702 on my birthsheet but you can just keep the gains low.

$143 shipped is a pretty **** good deal. Power on tap isnt a bad thing either.

^^ or you can buy it here if you want a 1 year warrany from an authorized dealer. (only authorized Blaupunkt dealer as far as I know)

Brahmas are nice. I have a 10" Mk1. Just a single 10 was enough for me.
