Best 8" subs?

I have a JL Audio 8" W7 in a 1.1 cubic foot ported box @ 33hz. This sub has been great for about 4 years but I find lately I am able to easily over extend it on the 500/1 V2 and I am thinking I may kill it soon. Is there anything that takes as much or more power then the W7 8" and will work in my enclosure?

maybe a soundsplinter rli-8? i've used the 10" model and i've seen what the 8's can do on youtube.

That is very nice! You will see the standard "get a 1508", which is fine. If I were you, I would look in to the orphan 8's from Soundsplinter, only problem with them is they are 6 ohm, but they are supposed to be really nice sql subs. Or if you can find one, a Soundsplinter RLI 8

Thanks for the compliments on the box. I got tired of the RE SE 12" taking up all the room behind my seat. I saw everyone down firing a 10 or 12 and decided to do something different. Designed the box and a local shop built it for free because they liked the idea. Found the fabric from a guy online. As far as the 8's go I will wait on the sundown unit. I had talked to the guy at SoundSplinter and he told me my amp would be a bit overkill for my setup. Not to mention the RLi box specs are way different then what I have built. I may just pickup another W7 8" because of the box specs.

i vote for the 1508. the one in my ava replaced a 10w7, the w7 wasnt realy that much louder.

your box should work fine except you will have to open up the hole a bit to fit other 8's as the w7 have smaller cut-outs.

Soundsplinter RLi 8's slam real good and they do it without taking barely any space.

You hvae a couple options. Most here will say the 1508. Which is a great sub, but exactly an SQ based sub, not to say you cant get them to sound good. DD recomends a 40hz tunning to break them in and then they say lower it to your liking.

A Sound slinter RLi 8 will do good in this situation, and there is also a JBL sub that I can not think of off the top of my head with a 500w rms.

A sundown e8 will also work, provided you know what your doing, and you dont get any clipping. Sundown e8 would me nice and has a great price point, well worth picking up to try.

That's a decent list, just what I was going to post. I had a pair 1008a's with 1100wrms going to them, was nice, even in a trunked car.
