Best 8" subs?

if you have too much power on tap thats a good thing. just as long as you have a dmm or clamp meter to set the amp to the right power level. headroom ftw!

1.1cuft is a wee bit big for a 1508....but thats perfect, throw some wood blocks inside the box to make it about .8ish cu.ft and then you wont even need to touch the port for higher tuning! I loved my 1508s.

I talked to DD and they said it will work. 1.19 is before sub and port displacement. I have a local dealer and was quoted $185.00 for the sub plus tax. Does that sound about right? I couldn't find any dealers online.

ehhh im telling you from experience with em....it'll work in 1.1cu.ft but it wont take the 500w without bottoming out. .8cu ft, 38hz tuning //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well crap, maybe thats the issue im having with my W7.. ive bottomed it out a few times an it sounds nasty when it happens. I need to refigure my cubic feet of air space and make sure its right.

hmm...

you must be doing somthing wrong then.

the 1508 in my ava is in 1 cuft, 19" of port tuned to 37-38hz on an mtx81000d(1krms) and has never bottomed out. in fact, it gets quite loud and low and seem like it may take a tad more power.

op, your box is fine except you will have to cut the hole out some to fit the dd.

both the 1508's i have were bought new and needed some time to "loosen up".imo sounded somewhat crapy at first but came out great.

buy them directly from dd, a d4 should be about $170 shipped.

what are the measurements of you box and what type of port do you have?

but how much port area were you using? I'm talking using the single 4" aero like the OP is using.

IS the 10008a as good as teh 1508?
Not AS good but still a beast //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

1.4 cu ft @ 39.x hz w 300w RMS going to it - No bottoming out

1.4 cu ft @ 39.x hz w/ MTX 7801 going to it @ 4 ohm (800-1000w RMS) - no bottoming out
