It is stupid but it's true. The store I work in splits the signal over 300 times. Yeah they have amplifiers and everything on them but it'll still look almost 2 times better in your home and so forth!

Plus, some schmuck could have been there before you screwing around with the settings, messing up the color, contrast, sharpness ... etc.

You really won't know until it is properly calibrated.

Can the swimming effect be contributed to the "ghosting" on the set too? Or has that pretty much been eliminated?

Samsung is pretty good. I was looking at their top of the lineTV before I got my 46" Sony Bravia XBR4 and not much of a difference besides the black level seems better in my Sony, yet Samsung is rated right behind it on cNet and consumer reports.

That and is hard to find a XBR4 under 3000 smacks at 52". Hell I was over 3000 with a 46.

Don't know about the LCDs, but my parents have a 65" Samsung DLP and it is amazing...

just picked up a 46inch sony xbr5 this weekend. so far so good. barely had a chance to watch it though since i just set it up last night.

i was watching some of the HD channels though and was blown away by picture quality.

...do you use the rs232 port? If not, you could have saved some $$$ and went with the xbr4...

And good choice on the samsung. I have the 4665f, and just replaced it with the 4671. Nothing really comes close to the black levels and colors on these 2 sets...
