haha... where do BTL's fall into this category?

BTLs are loud, straight up SPL loud. Some people can use them for daily, some people think they sound like ***. I think if you're looking at FI then perhaps the BL might be better for daily. Though if you want to be really loud then it won't hurt to go with the BTL either

i was looking to buy new yet still maintain a decent price range. the only thing im hesitant about is that im pretty familiar with kicker and all and just havent really heard anything other than most mainstream brands. if your opinion (hoping you've heard both) which will sound better/louder, L7 or SPL?

I have yet to have heard an SPL, but i've heard L7s. And to be honest with you, the louder you go, the less and less that the subs has an SQ sound to it.

And the L7s i heard were in a hatch and sounded like ***. But they did get loud as hell though

I have had real good luck with my atomic 3000.1, just a suggestion for your 3000+ watt amp....
