higher tuning won't help you very much. Most of a kickdrum is outside of a subwoofers range, the bit that is within a subs range is usually 45 to 60hz, but realistically, your not going to gain much by just hitting the lowest fundamental frequency. Let alone simply playing that one little bit of it louder, I can promise you 45hz is already the loudest part of the kickdrum in your system as it stands already. Drums are hard to get right as you need everything from 40hz to about 4khz to be pretty much correct to get proper tonality out of it. 40hz is usually the easy part and the part that needs to be quieter if anything. I know this is an SPL forum so louder is always the answer for you guys, but your really looking in the wrong places. I can demo rock with my subs off even for bass heads and I've never had any major complaints about how my drums sound even crossed at 80hz at 24db/octave.
