Best 12" Woofer Very small Space!!

Hello, I was wondering whats the Best not second best 12" woofer out there that does not need any space at all to work and sound good in a ported or slotted fiberglass box. I got 1 Eclipse SW9122 TI in the trunk right know and the box is kind of big and heavy for my WRX STI!!

Dude, the Eclipse Ti is probably one of the best small space drivers, you'll unlikely find a better small space driver.

The higher the BL, the smaller you can make the Box. The Ti can pretty much whoop the chit out of any driver for motor force. What you need is a neo motor that can match the force of your eclipse but weighs less. The lightning audio storm will do that if you can find one, there really aren’t too much out there. Or look for a copper vc driver. Copper is great for small boxes. Most car audio stuff is aluminum so good luck…

Try and look for a storm on ebay.. they are ugly as shit, but they kick ***.

The Fi BTL / RE MT (same difference) would also be a good choice too, that driver has crap load of motor and you can get it in a copper coil. The only problem is that weights even MORE than your Ti so you're sort of back to square one.

Most people think bigger drivers need bigger boxes, but if we’re talking about sealed designs, then that line of thinking could not be further from the truth!

My advice is put your Ti in a VERY small sealed box and I bet it will blow anything away you replace it with (using the same box)

Well I could do that. But I just don't Play One type of music I'm all over the place Techno , Dance, Rap, Rock , Metal. Yea it mite sound good with Rammstein and metallica but what about Techno and shit like that that has some low bass???//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wallbash.gif.1310150c49dd52e0fbe1813a0681e5c3.gif Because soon I get money I'm going Alpine IVA-W200 and PXA-H701:veryexci:

Which motor is used on the Eclipse?

BeesEverywhere! is correct about the motor force of the driver. Basically whichever driver has the biggest motor will work the best in small boxes, and the Eclipse looks to be pretty big, if it's a 3hp motor is should work very well in very small enclosures.

if your worried about adding 30lbs to your car you need to step away from car audio and go back to taking the AC and passenger seats out of your car.
Well its not all about the wight but its part of it. But that's why I was going fiberglass but the wood box just big and clumsy in a small trunk. just want to save some space and put the box in the center behind the seat to center the wight so its not all one sided!!! But about my Q? up top how will it sound with a sealed box?

Yes, well I'm sorry, the Eclipse only likes some kinds of dance, it likes techno and electronic, but it DOES NOT LIKE HAPPY HARDCORE! it can do rock but it like rap more expect for east coast rap because its a west coast driver. WESTSIDE!!

/end sarcasm

SUBWOOFERS DONT HAVE MUSIC PREFERENECSE its a ****ing subwoofer. You system will either sound good or sound bad, it has nothing to do with the type of music. You're system will have a bandwidth of frequencies. The type of the box and size determine how efficient the driver is and how loud it is in its respected bandwidth. The box determines the bandwidth to a large degree and the driver T/S must be considered when matching the system to the driver.

sigh....

The mag will be a step down from the Ti because its has only about 2/3rds of the motor, if you put that in a smaller box you can kiss you're output bye bye.

I sort of want you to buy the mag so you can come back and say how right I am

oh i love hearing how right i am

I'm so right

So what is your weight limit, and sound you are looking for?

If you gave alittle more info i'd be alot easier for people to help you out.

But we've had some promising output from our Napalm10's in small sealed boxes (0.75 after dis) but i dont want to suggest it before i know what you really want, but for the most part a single 10 sounds like what you need.

I am sure it would sound great espc up top and I am sure it would drop hella low, but your going to want to give it around 800-1000 watts keep that in mind, otherwise I would look at maybe and IDQ a SI BM or something else. All would work great sealed, given the proper airspace and power
