I wouldnt think a single Mag 12 would have many issues keeping up with a pair of arggs, both with the same power. Its sound quality would certianly be superior.
Doubleing cone area only gives you 3dB in theory...6dB if you double cone area and power. But say you where going with 1000w to the mag and 1000w to the R's. To give 4 R's 2000w you would need to spend another $300 (if you are buying a decent amplifier). With another $300 you can buy another mag.
If you really want to talk cash, you cant ge 4 Type R 12's new and authorized for $400, or $450. In fact you could buy an SI Mag 15 for the price of 4 Type R 12's Authorized and New.
