what are the best sql 10" subs? im running an oldschool us amps usa800 and im limited in enclosure space. so 2 10s in a sealed 1 cuft enlosure(per sub) is all i havd. the amp is rated for 3000rms @ 12v. im told really about 4000-4500@14.5v. i currently have 2 wmd 10". any opinions?? thanx.

Small woofers and loud don't mix. For subwoofer duty, I consider 12" a minimum. 10" or 8" is a joke unless you only want a little bit of output (just blending and filling) or intend to run an array of them to achieve adequate cone area.

For SQL, I would think more towards 15" and 18" subs. Available options are plentiful. Which sub depends upon many factors: budget, size constraints, power, desired frequency response, desire sound characteristics, etc...

orion hcca 10's are rated at 2kw and i know personnally of a pair of 12" hcca that are being fed close to 4kw daily to each sub on a pair of gp3000 amps at 15 volts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Science is serious business. I'm super cereal here. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

However in all seriousness, bigger is better. Until a 10" woofer gets several inches of x-max and can using it very linearly, bigger is the better route.

At least OP is using two 10" woofers which helps.

I bring this up simply because size will limit output capability. How much output is desired? Can a specific package achieve that output level? Can that package achieve it cleanly? Would an alternative package offer better performance? Which option fits in a smaller package? Which option makes better use of available power? Which package will stay cleaner at higher output levels? What ends up being the best solution?

It's just that typically, a larger woofer is preferred. It's nothing specifically against the 10" size, but bigger will do the job better. Cone area > excursion when it comes to SQ. It simply keeps the woofer in a more linear range of motion and keeps distortion down. There is science to my madness. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

so your telling me you would rather run an 18" woofer, over a 10" woofer for a SQ setup?
will the 18 be better on the kick drums and double beats?

can i ask what is your defination of SQ?
Some of the finest SQ installs have used 15" and 18" drivers. The size of the driver does not dictate whether it can be used for SQ or not.

I doubt you will ever see anywhere near 4000-4500. Good luck holding anywhere near 14.5v...lol.

What ohm load? If below 1 ohm stereo (2 ohm bridged) you are asking for trouble.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

2 x 400W @ 4 ohms

2 x 800W @ 2 ohms

2 x 1500W @ 1 ohm

1 x 3000W @ 2 ohms bridge
