Don't even bother "benchtesting" your amp. Unless you have all the necessary equipment (o-scope, power supply, dummy load, etc etc), it won't be accurate.

Ok let me put it this way....how do I find out if its putting out the rated watts it says its pushing....do I still need all that...or just a multimeter?

 
You need all of that. That's my point: do it right, or don't bother, or pay someone to do it for you.
