Beginner amp advice needed.

Hi,

Im looking to buy an amp for a system consisting of a Sony HU (52wx4), MTX Thunder4000 sub (RMS handling capacity 50-200W, Peak power 400W) and Kenwood speakers (around 200W, I think). Originally I was just going to get a 2 channel amp for the sub, however I started thinking that I might as well get a 4 channel and run the rear speakers off the amp as well. Would this result in a noticeable change in sound quality which would justify the extra price (as they’re only basic speakers – nothing flash), or should I just stick to running the speakers off the HU and the sub off the amp?

Also, Im looking at two basic amps, and it would be great to get some advice on what would be best for my setup as Im not exactly sure of the wattage I need:

2 Channel:

Output Power(max/Peak) - 500Watts (250W x 2 Load 4 ohms)

Bridged Output Power(max/Peak) - 500Watts (500W x 1 Load 4 ohms)

4 Channel:

Max watt - 4x400w (1600W total)

Max bridged watts - 2x800

Thanks a lot

JD
