Ok, so i've been off the forum because i've been hella busy. But i'm still having the same problem with my amp/ subs.

So it seems that the sub out on my headunit (alpine 9884) has gone to crap. It was working with my last system, but I can't figure out why it won't work. So, I switch my RCA from my sub out to my rear out. RCA's run from there to my sub amp, obviously.

I will now list everything that seems to be happening.

SO,whenever I change stations or the source (radio, CD, ipod) the subs "pop". I don't think that right

Whenever I turn it up louder, the subs/ amp freak out, and start to pump furiously, even when i turn off the volume. The only way I can make it stop is to hit the killswitch (to the remote wire) to turn off the amp all together. I will turn it back on, and the amp will be in protect for a minute. Then go back to normal.

When I hit any type of bump, my subs cut out, doesn't have to be a big one at all.

And lastly and most depressing, it doesn't seem loud at all. Even when I can turn it up for a second or two, its nothing compared to past setups, but the gear is bigger and better, and the box was well built, and its all in the same vehicle. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

NOTE THIS

My ground has got to be solid. Its right to the frame w/ 2/0 wire.

My gain is set correctly, its not even at halfway with the subs wired at 2 ohms.

I'm just so tired of messing with it i'm literally about to sell everything and take my loss, wait till the Army pays my my bonus and then have a local competition shop help me with the next build.

maybe something wrong with the amp?
or the HU

tried another HU?
I have not. I don't have a spare laying around, nor the time to just switch one out to try it out.

If thats the case, that would ****. I bought that HU last summer and its had minimal use. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

its obviously a signal or grounding issue. Everything matchs up to that except the amp going into protect, i dont know what the deal with that is.

My money is on a shitty ground (did you ground to clean, sanded metal? how it is bolted?), or a pinched/crappy rca cable.

check to make sure the RCA isnt jacked up. If it isnt, check to make sure you are getting good connections at the amp and headunit (wiggle the plug and see if it effects output)

then, check the ground again
