battery voltage

thats horrible even at 14 volts for a HO alt i had a powermaster 200amp 125 at idle and it rested cold at 14.6 and warm at 14.3-14.4 dont care for mean green alts.

Thats with no stereo on i assume thats what you are saying as well

I was assuming you were using the system!

horrible??

Hardly.

Temp comes up, resistance changes, voltage changes/stabilizes. You really can't tell anything about what type of workhorse your alt is until you start loading it down.

Even if your amp is loosely regulated the difference at the output between 14.4 in and 13.5 is only going to be 10-15%. That might matter if your an SPL competitor, but not if you just listen to music.

yea no stereo on not very good at all
you should just keep your mouth shut since you don't know what you're talking about. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

op you're just fine there's nothing wrong with that. it just means your batt is charged up from starting your car and your alt is doing a good job!

i'm back from miami and without playing music my voltage was down to like 13,2v while it is a 14v in quebec.

Hotter= less voltage but like someone says, it won't change anything on a daily listening... except if you run full tilt all the time

I have an EA 200 amp alt, and Kinetik HC1800 & HC2400. When my charging system is cold the voltage is always at 14.5 or higher, was at 15.2 last week when it was below zero outside. As soon as the alt and batteries warm up the voltage drops to 13.5-14.1 at idle with or without music on. Start driving and it goes back to 14.4, but it's always lower when everything is warmed up. I've been told that with newer computer controlled vehicles it can also depend on the computer and voltage regulator, computers may not see the need for a higher voltage when driving so it won't let the alt over charge the battery until there's a significant amperage draw on the charging system.
