i have 01 chevy blazer 4dr.im having voltage problems when i have my music off with my music off im at 14.80v and when i turn on the music my voltage 12.6v.i was thinkin for putting a small batery under the seat if there is some sort of battery thats small.will a motorcycle battery work or will be it a waste of money? i will be doin the big three upgrade soon.what are your opinions/suggestions, forgot to mention i have an optima red top battery under the hood, not sure if there are better batteries out there that will be better than the one i currently have to fixthe problem. the battery i have is bearly a year old purchased at pepboys

Definitely do the big 3 asap. Then check all your grounds, make sure you sand the paint off to get a good connection. Any resistance in the wiring/connections will cause extra voltage drop.

sounds to me like you have an alt problem If your alt is factory putting out 14.8?... thats a little high if nothing else has been done to it... That would explain why it drops so low too. My alt runs 14.8 to 15.1 and i had to get a MLA module ( missing link audio module ) to get that kind of voltage. Go to like autozone and have them check your alt. I don't think that it is a good thing that your voltage is that high without you doing something to it. Generally if its a factory alt and its running that high on its own then its usually your alt about to go!

There is no resistance on my cables, my grounds are fine i recently fixed that problom. I dont want to sacrifice anymore since i have a 18h, 18D, 25W box in the trunk. Maybe it is my alt that is going out. Thanks for the responses.

I called my local auto parts and they told me that the oem alternator has 100 amps...If my alternator is bad i am planning to go with a bit higher than 100 amps. Would that be safe for my car or what are the pros and cons besides the price
