What's the purpose of a battery terminal? And does anyone have any recommendations on what to get? Is the brand important?

I used something like this to add my amps and upgrade the Big3 (I have side posts GM attachments, so I added this to the top posts of the battery)

Be carful with those...my original side post GM battery worked fine with that...when I bought the Red Top the side post holes weren't as deep and that adapter wouldn't tighten all the way...that's why I added the top ones.

ya i hate this gm side post terminal stuff. ya i figure if it don't work i can always return it from circuit city. cuz they have a small and large size.
