battery light

I drive a 97 Oldsmobile Achieva sl with two solo-baric l5 10" subs and a sony xpolde 1200 watt amp. Everytime my car gets into higher rpms the battery light comes on in my dash. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to fix it because everyone i have asked so far has no clue. By the way my lights also go dim when the battery light comes on. do i need a cap, battery, or new alternator. I had the same problem in my old Malibu....I ended up getting a new alt.

I am not saying that this is necessarly your problem, a new/larger battery or a cap may work just as well.
