Battery Isolator Required?

If they are the same then hookin' them in parallel outta be fine without an isolator. I've got a space for a second battery under my hood and if I ever install a 2nd battery I will probably install a Hellroaring isolator at the same time. I likes to complicate things. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

ah i see. same brand or exactly same batteries? im thinking about upgrading to a hc2400 in the future.
Typically same brand AND same output, but not always. The fact that yours are both HC1400's you should be fine without an isolator. Just make sure your alternator can keep up the juice to both!

yea im not totally sure my alternator's true output.

i finally found out why my engine light was one. well there were two reasons, one is the catalytic converter and the other were the grounds and wires not very tighten. i need to go back and redo all the 0 gauge wires //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Try to find out on the alternator. A lot of folks just say "Throw in a bigger battery" without thinking of the alternator. If it can't fully charge your batteries then it will die sooner than later.

I've got a 145 Amp alternator (OEM) and an OEM AC Delco 70 Amp battery. My mechanic stated that I should not go with a battery higher than 125 Amps without going to a 200 or 250 Amp alternator. These two tend to be matched by the manufacturer for a reason. Just somethin' to keep in mind.

125amps huh? 70amp delco. You talking cca or ah? Also an isolator not required. You connect the batteries together its like 1 big battery, use an isolator its 2 batteries. Only reason you would ever need one is if you play your stereo off for long periods of time and are worried about the car not starting. I can play music with my car off for 5 hours and it fires right up. Just a single deka is all i have.

Winner!

An isolator has nothing to do with alternator or battery specifications. It is only to disconnect your starting battery from the system to avoid killing it.

Truth. Or you can use an isolator to make sure a 16 volt and a 12 volt battery never mix, but then I'm afraid you'd be retarded for having any wiring between the two.

70Ah on the Delco.

AC-DELCO Battery is #7641. CCA 615 - 70 Ah - Load Test 308 - "Replacement Model" 48-6YR

145 Amp OEM Alternator.

When looking at a battery like a Kinetik HC2000 their specs are in watts and the batt is 102Ah. Ah, Amps, CCA, watts, ... yikes. I just want to make sure that if I buy something like a Kinetik HC2000 that my alternator is gonna keep up...I mean afterall, I don't exactly have a HUGE car audio system. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
