battery help

I have a nsb90 battery and am wanting to make bars such as the ones shown in the pic. My question is, will i have to keep the metal off the plastic, thus having a clearance gap between the bar and the plastic on the battery? My second question is, is there a specific type of metal to use to these bars? I have a friend that works at a sheet metal factory so I can have these made easily.

THANKS

copper would be your best bet for the bars. i dont think you will need to keep a gap between the bars and plastic. i dont think it would hurt anything.

i doubt it, if it were to get that hot, then your power wire would also get that hot, thus your shielding would melt. also, those bars of copper would dissipate heat faster than the power wire. if your worried about it you could just put a spacer in there somewhere
