I purchased a XAV-601BT in 2012. It was installed in the summer of 2012 by a professional installer. About a week after installation, I took my car in for an oil change. During the oil change, they disconnected the battery. This caused the XAV-601BT to "die." The screen was blank, and the buttons on the side of the faceplate did not illuminate. I took my car back to the installer to see if the unit could be recovered. At the time, the installer told me that there is a security function in the unit, and disconnecting it from its power source will cause it to become nonoperational. He reset it, and the unit has functioned fine ever since; I haven't disconnected the battery since.
Over the weekend, I had to disconnect the battery to do some work on my car. The same thing happened. The XAV-601BT has a blank screen, and the buttons on the side of the faceplate do not illuminate. The unit is getting power because you can still load and eject a CD. I tried to hit the reset button located behind the faceplate, but this did not recover the unit.
Does anyone know how to recover the XAV-601BT after disconnecting it from its power source? I'd prefer to do this on my own so I don't have to pay an installer to do it, if possible.
