Battery Clamps

Not sure how to describe this.. all the cars I've ever worked on, however, have been similar.

The Optima Yellow Top obviously is not a completely flat battery on the top so the clamp fits kinda on one side, and not exactly on the other. That's fine, but the little pole (?) that you screw through part of the clamp and hook in the hole under the battery to tighten it.. is too long for the battery itself. I put some eDead v1se //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif to basically push the battery up a little more but it's still too far to be tightened. Does anyone know where to get a shorter pole? All it is, is a rod that has a little hook on one end and a place to screw a nut on the other, but the threads only go so far down the rod, and I need about an inch more to tighten it.

Thanks.

I assume you're talking about the hold down clamps that secure the battery to the tray? There are universal jobbers you can get at any auto parts store... or if you're feeling cheap stick a hunk of plywood under the battery.
