Do any of you own and/or have any expirience with battery chargers? Im lookin at a few small ones and a big one. Leaning towards the big one, only thing is, I dont know about keepin it in the car, but that most likely wont be an issue, you never know though.

Any input?

something like this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Schumacher-Heavy-Duty-Car-Truck-RV-Battery-Charger-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ63700QQihZ016QQitemZ260036572849QQrdZ1

My brother and his friends all had something like this (for hydraulics) but that was a long time ago. No idea what they were or the specs on them.

Also, what local stores sell them, and for how much approx.? I havetn seen many, mostly battery jumpers.

Hard to go wrong with a Schumacher, Hero.

Every battery charger I've ever owned (whether little-bitty less-than-10-ampere chargers or bigger ones such as you've linked to) was made by them and every single one of them was good equipment.

Most any parts store would sell them as well as places like Sears and the like. As I've not purchased one in some years now I wouldn't have a clue what they cost nowadays, though...

I guess it depends on what your doing with it.

I picked up a little cheapie one from Checker(kragen). I think it was 25 bucks, but it does 6v and 12volt. I just used it to maintain the batteries I had sitting around for a bit.

Basically for maintaining, but possibly for jump starting, or other future uses, you never know. Checker/kragan is that liek advance auto or pep boys?

yeah same place pretty much. Anywhere that sells autoparts. hell, even wally world should have it.

i ahve a big one that works great. i also have a few trickles. this might not be for your application, but in my boat i have a main and two aux batteries. i have an on board 3 stage charger that brings them up and maintains them but it also backs off so it doesnt kill anything. it charges all three independantly and keeps them at like 14 volts or something like that. everynight i plug in the 6 ft pigtail that it has and we are good to rock out all next day. all three are group 31's. i go out on the two aux, rock out for 3-5 hours full bore, the start it on the same two i was rocking out on. never even have to flip the switch to the main batteries. it works beautifully.

if u want a charger i have to give my vote to the powermaster one.. fully regulated and 3 stage //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif got my g31 and hc2400 to float at 14.8 for about 10 mins

Word, this would be for my yellowtop and my regular car battery.

try ebay, i'm sure u can find one there.
Thats where i found that one, I havent looked around much, because Im not really sure what I want, Im leaning right back towards that schumacher until i see some other suggestions. I just want some comparisons.

wal mart or auto parts store ftw
Tried walmart, they dont have much at the ones up here, they arent supercenters. Advance auto and napa didnt have shit.
