I just purchased a 91 F350 and it came with it's fancy factory radio (kidding). It has only x2 front door speakers and the factory tape deck. The left side had very little sound coming out of it while the right side was at normal levels. I turned the balance completely left and the right side lowered to as low as the left side but both sides were still audible. I turned the balance to the right and it was the same as at mid, left side low, right side normal level.
First step I decided to do was change the factory speakers out with some decent ones. After installation I was still having the same exact issue. Next step was replace the factory radio and that is where I am at now.
With the balance at mid both speakers are now at normal and even levels. When I turn the balance completely left or right both left and right speaker sound level is reduced but both are still audible.
My question is, does anyone know if this is normal? Isn't the left or right speaker supposed to go completely quite while the other stays at it's current sound level? What are your ideas for what is going on here?
I am using x2 5 1/4's, an in dash CD Player and a wire harness.
Side question, the wire harness for my truck has enough speaker wires to pair with the 4 channel after market stereo but the truck has only x2 speakers. If I wanted to install x2 more speakers for the rear seats, does this mean that the truck has wires I should hook into or would I run the wires to the stereo wires and unhook them from the wire harness?
