Bad voltage regulator, or rectifier? CS105/AD244 alternator troubleshooting

I have two, two wire alternators in parallel with two 55ah agm batteries and a bank of supercaps. Two wire alternator as in one positive charge wire to the battery, and one dash illumination wire that is wired into the 4 pin standard plug. Standard gm v8 5.3 from 00 non ecm controlled AFAIK since it's two wire

The battery light has started coming on intermittently to signal a bad alternator, at first I figured the problem was the harness I made but the solder joint still appears in tact. However, I found out later that the alternators were in fact shutting off and/or charging very slowly leading me to believe one of the alternators voltage regulator's is going bad. During one occasion, revving the engine to 4k appeared to "re-excite" the alternators and fixed the problem. Doesn't occur every time. Keep in mind voltage spikes may be mitigated by my cap bank

Looking for a down and dirty way to check the voltage regulator and bridge rectifier on each individual alternator. One is a large case 200a ad244 and another is a cs105 small case.

Note that I'm not easy on the alternators and I've clamped 450a of draw going into my sub amp alone, but it's likely averaging less power because of the cap bank. Excessive current draw usually burns rectifiers so that's my first guess...
