Bad tweeter or wiring?

This is kinda hard to explain but I'll try.

I don't drive my truck alot but it seems like my front drivers side tweeter has an awful "garbled" sound to it when I first start the truck up. Sometimes worse than others. Today it was horrible. It was also colder out today than it's been so I'm not sure if that's a factor. Now, if you drive it a while the tweeter slowly starts sounding more normal. The front tweeters and the 6x9's are all off of the front channels so I don't think it's the amp because I know the other speakers sound fine.

Could the tweeter be the issue or maybe even the wiring??

I know it's hard to diagnose something like this over the internet. I am going to try and take it to the local shop that did the install. BUt the problem is that it's intermittent. I also would rather never go to the shop again for other reasons but it's still under warranty.

Honestly, if it was a problem that was there 100% of the time I would have already gone there. It's just so intermittent that I can't seem to replicate the problem when I am in the truck and have time to go there.

I figured I would just ask a general question here in hopes that someone has seen a similar problem and could maybe lead me to what the issue could be.

Ok, try this then.

If you have another speaker available to you, swap it with the tweeter, leave it in there for a few days, or until the problem occurs.

Or, run another speaker wire to that tweeter (can be above carpet), to rule out the speaker wire.

Try one until the noise occurs, then try the other. This can rule out the speaker or the wiring, and help narrow down the issue. If neither of those fix it, it could be your amp, crossover, or RCA cables.

well, I guess it's off to the shop when I get a chance. Today, after work, I went back out and the garbled sound was coming from the 6x9 more than the tweeter. I know for a fact the sound was coming out of the tweeter in the past. So, I'll hope it will do it again when I take it to the shop.

thanks for the idea though bass_lover1.
