Bad signal

My sister and I are installing a system in here civic. I got the amp to power on, but when I hooked up the sub woofer, it immediately went to full excursion.

Could this be a bad signal, and how can I fix it?

Nah I don't have a video. I don't really want to try it again. I'm afraid I could mess up the speaker.

But the subwoofer went full excursion in one direction. It didn't produce any sounds or anything like that.

full excursion in one direction means that you are putting a constant dc signal to the coils.

make sure your wiring is correct and then use a dmm to troubleshoot

ah ok.

My sister just informed be her and her idiot boy friend had to tap into the RCA's to make them work......

I think that is problem lol.
