expanding foam ?

ok i was told this weekend by my dad that the expanding foam that i see alot of people using to seal up large cavities in their car is very flameable . and i am just wondering is it is so flameable then why do so many people use it?

because it is cheap and easy.....it won't catch fire unless you reach ignition temp or get an open flame.

gasoline is flammable yet u put it in your car....it wont ignite without a source...im sure there are expanding foams that are fire retardant.....they are used in insulation of heat pipes in many stores

try a plumbing store

it can just catch fire. it has happend to me b4. just make sure you have an extinguesure

ok well i was just wondering cause my father said it was so flamable they took it out of street stocks race cars cause of that reason and that it was hard to put out

I haven't tested it yet, but I would think it's only flammable when it's still curing. Once it's hardened it should be fine. One thing to keep in mind when using this in a car, it will expand greatly and can warp body panels.

might just have to put some on some let it set then see if it that flamable or not
