Bad Recone

Can a bad recone cause a sub to almost snaking a slapping sound. I got a sundown zv3 18 and at around 1/4th gain it smacks or slaps. Motors good. I need help! I should get it a new kit but I scared of f'in it up. I'm confused. I've tried it on two different setups. Got a different headunit and wiring. Box isn't leaking. Everything's fine. I think it's sub only at this point....?

Yea most the time its a bad install of the recone and not the recone itself ..but yea totally possible

There was a similar problem with someone's Zv4 recently. Was your's a drop-in recone from Sundown too?

If the coil is not correctly shimmed when adhering the spider and surround the coil can hit the pole making a slapping noise. Dustcap could be loose, spider may have a spot missing glue. Lot of variables

I have a Zv3 18, another that i got from a trade on facebook today. AND a Zv4 that i got for 100 bucks that has the same problem. No one seems to be answering me. So i reposted it.

Yes

Whoever reconed the sub fucked up. That pretty much sums up that entire other thread. Time to try again

Hit up @SPLaudio; and have him build custom recones for u ..he can install them too if u ship the motor that way u dont have to sweat it
