I blew my 12" Ava before i even installed it. Actually i had it in my el camino in a box to see how it sounded because it was sitting in my room for months. The box it was in, was not the box i intended it to be in, it was just for kicks. It was a quick mock up with some but no major leaks, but it was doing fine in the box(with the engine not running) but my electrical was dimming so i turned on my car. Seconds after some bass hit...no sound from the sub. Checked everything over and still not working. Hooked it up to its other voice coil and worked like it was B4 excepts i heard a lot of slapping going on. Turned everything off and tapped on the woofer and it sounded like a spring was moving, each time i tapped. I know its destroyed but dont know how it happened perhaps the 1st voice coil. Anyways the good news is im on the market for another woofer(how fun!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif ). So any suggestions? I going about 1.1-1.5 sealed, running it off a nine.1, with a price range of 200$-250$, and SPL orientated. thanks for the ideas:)( something reliable too)

hmmmmmm I would of thought it should of been able to take the abuse......guess it couldnt. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

i thought it should too. everything was good. the gain and phase was perfect(for me at least) the LPF was below about 50hz. Now im just looking for a new sub.

SPL and sealed dont go together

ummm thas pretty small maybe a type r ported? CVX? is there anyway u can get more room?

remember, only running one coil effectivly halfs the thermal and rated power.

so if you were running any moer than, say 300w to it. i would venture to guess thats why you toasted it.

req thats it! thanks for the input. it just hit me i was pumping 1200 watts and i forgot to hook up the other VC. Fvck! but what can i do xcept look for another or fix it. Yeah i took off the cone and everything else and i had the sub go out yesterday and today its still warm and smells like ***.
