The gain is about halfway between 0 and max. There could be a poor connection but I'm not sure where it would be. I just had the remote connection fixed up today.
bring the gain down just a tad, and yes when you have time take a look down where your wires run and look for a pinch or stripped wire, both the power and ground, you said you fixed the remote wire so I guess don't worry about that, if it was a bad ground there would likely be dimming lightsThe gain is about halfway between 0 and max. No problemOkay I'll check for a pinched wire tomorrow morning and bring down the gain slightly. If I don't find anything then I'll just head back to the shop tomorrow and see what they can do. I want my bass! Thanks for the help!
what? do explainSo since spring break has begun, I decided to finally figure why my amp stopped working about 5 months ago. After a few days of messing around with it and getting nowhere, I decided yesterday to go to a shop to figure out the problem. My amp fried and I needed a new one. They installed a new one and on my way home I enjoyed the bass that I'd missed for so long. Then it stopped working as soon as I pulled in my driveway. No big deal, I thought. I went back to the shop today to figure out the speaker wires behind my head unit came loose. For about ten minutes I was in bass heaven; then it stopped again. This time, the red status light started coming on whenever my volume went above 15. The bass would play up until I passed that point. Now at home again, I'm trying to figure out what's wrong and why god doesn't want me to bump down the streets. Maybe it's because I've used my system to force people to speed up in the past. Anyway, the rca's are fine since it's playing at low volumes. The amp is being input almost 14 volts, so it isn't an issue there. On the powerbass site it says the status light comes on when its overheated, nor getting enough volts, or something else I forget. Any ideas what the problem could be before I go back to the shop again tomorrow?
Note: when the status light comes on after vomune 15 the amp stops powering the subs, but is if e from volume 15 and below (not normal listening volume)
I agree, you probably have a 2ohm stable amp, but your sub is probably wired to 1ohm
That's most likely your problem. You're wired too low for the amp to handle. You need to either wire those subs to 4 ohm or get different subs. That's if you are wired to 1 ohm right now. Have you measured those subs to see what you are sitting at?I got some kit from Walmart over the last summer. 6 gauge power wire and same with the ground I'm pretty sure. Then the remote wire and speaker wires I have no clue. I have a feeling I don't know what you mean exactly, sorry. I'm kind of a noob at this.
EDIT: After going back outside, I saw that it actually says 2ohm stable on the side of my amp, not 1ohm. It's pretty cold out so I kind of quickly skimmed the sides and went back inside.
People who drive slow are also typically people who aren't fond of having bass blasted loudly behind them. So if you feel like the guy in front of you should be going a bit faster, just crank up the system and bump them to an appropriate speed.what? do explain
oh yeah i figured, much safer/better than tailgatingPeople who drive slow are also typically people who aren't fond of having bass blasted loudly behind them. So if you feel like the guy in front of you should be going a bit faster, just crank up the system and bump them to an appropriate speed.
dafuq? Im out of IdeasI rewired my subs to 2ohm today and it did not fix anything. I also saw no problem with the speaker wires. Going back to the shop.
Me too. Is it too much to ask for my car to have some good bass? Apparently it is.dafuq? Im out of Ideas
